Suspicious Incident In Golden Gate

Deputies are investigating a suspicious incident in which a man with flashing lights on his vehicle tried to pull over a woman on a bicycle in Golden Gate on Monday night.

The 18-year-old woman told deputies that she was riding her bike on Hunter Boulevard near Santa Barbara Boulevard around 9 p.m. when a dark colored vehicle pulled up behind her, sheriff’s investigators said.

The driver activated white strobe headlights and red and white rotating lights on the dashboard and told her to stop, investigators said.

The driver got out of the vehicle and asked the woman for her telephone number. He did not identify himself as a law enforcement officer, nor did he display any form of identification or a badge, investigators said.

The woman became suspicious and got back on her bike and rode away. The driver sped off in his vehicle down Hunter.

Investigators described the man as Hispanic, 6 feet, 200 pounds with medium length dark curly greasy hair and clean shaven with a large mole on his left jaw near his ear. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with a white picture and blue jeans.

He was driving a dark maroon four-door passenger vehicle, possibly a Mercury or a Crown Victoria with dark tinted windows and shiny tire rims that possibly formed the shape of a star.

An investigation continues.
