Media Opportunity Saturday

WHAT: CCSO Teen Driving Challenge

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13

WHERE: Outside Barron Collier High School on the east side of the school

SUMMARY: CCSO and the Florida Sheriff's Association welcome Collier County kids to the Teen Driving Challenge.

Saturday is the final day of a two-day course that provides teens with the knowledge and hands-on experience to reduce their chances of being involved in a crash. The driving skills they are learning are the same techniques used by driving professionals, including NASCAR.

Friday consists of a four-hour block of classroom instruction. On Saturday they’ll experience eight hours of hands-on vehicle operations.

Participants will graduate with a certificate of completion that they can provide to their auto insurance company for a possible premium reduction.

This is CCSO’s first Teen Driving Challenge. More classes will run throughout the summer.
