18 Cited In Underage Alcohol Operation

More than 50 of 71 businesses visited Saturday during a CCSO underage alcohol enforcement operation properly checked IDs and refused to sell alcohol to minors.

Deputies cited 18 clerks who sold alcohol to underage volunteers.

Five teams of underage volunteers and deputies took part in the countywide operation.

Those who were cited received notices to appear in court on charges of selling alcohol to minors. A 19th suspected violation was turned over to the State Attorney’s Office for review. A notice to appear could not be issued in that case because the suspect lives outside Collier County.

NOTE: Commander Beth Jones will be available at 1:30 p.m. in CCSO’s Public Affairs office to discuss the results of Saturday’s operation and share information on other important CCSO projects aimed at keeping Collier County teens free of alcohol and drugs.
