A man wanted for a double homicide in New Jersey was arrested in East Naples on Friday morning.
Carmine Salerno, 59, homeless, was arrested on a warrant out of Warren County, N.J., charging him with two counts of felony murder, arson and aggravated assault. Investigators there say Salerno set his parents’ home on fire, killing them and injuring his brother.
Investigators say Salerno has used several ATM machines in North Naples and Bonita Springs since Nov. 1.
Cpl. Jerry Gibson was driving his marked CCSO patrol vehicle around 10:50 a.m. when he spotted a man matching Salerno’s description walking eastbound on Davis Boulevard just off of Airport-Pulling Road. Cpl. Gibson spoke with the man, confirmed he was Salerno, and took him to the Naples Jail Center for processing.
