Deputies arrested a man Thursday and charged him with robbing two convenience stores in Collier County in late November.
Danny Lee Lowe, 47, who arrest reports say is homeless, is charged with armed robbery with a firearm and grand theft in connection with a robbery at Walgreens, 1565 Airport-Pulling Road, East Naples, on Nov. 25.
He is also facing armed robbery with a firearm and petty theft charges in connection with a Thanksgiving Day robbery at Hess Mart, 11655 Collier Blvd. in Golden Gate.
In each of the robberies, Lowe entered the store armed with a gun and demanded money, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies said.
The robberies are similar to three other store robberies committed around Collier County since Nov. 21 that deputies are investigating, said Cmdr. Rod Bishop of CCSO’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, during a Friday morning news conference announcing Lowe’s arrest.
Those robberies were reported:
* Nov. 21 at Walgreens, 12780 U.S. 41 E., East Naples
* Nov. 27 at Walgreens, 15295 Collier Blvd., Golden Gate
* Nov. 30 at Circle “K,” 12800 U.S. 41 E., East Naples
Bishop said deputies are reviewing evidence from those cases and will meet with state prosecutors to determine whether additional charges will be filed.
Bishop said more arrests are expected.
Lowe was initially arrested Thursday on a charge of grand theft auto after deputies spotted him getting into a black 2003 Ford Expedition at 5212 Tree Tops Drive in East Naples. The Expedition had been reported stolen from a residence on Vercelli Court in Treviso Bay in East Naples on Nov. 19.
The Expedition also matched the description of the get-away vehicle from the Circle “K” robbery, according to arrest reports.
Bishop said Lowe had been staying at his girlfriend’s residence at 5212 Tree Tops Drive. Deputies charged Lowe with armed robbery after executing a search warrant at the residence.
Deputies say Lowe has an extensive list of prior felony arrests, mostly in Broward and Palm Beach counties including robbery with a weapon, burglary, grand theft, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon..
He has served seven terms in state prison since 1981. He was last released from prison on Aug. 6, 2008, deputies said.
