CCSO deputies helped feed 116 Collier County families Saturday, Dec.19.
Cpl. Sandra Mendez started “Project Feed Collier” after CCSO received a $3,000 grant from Sam’s Club to put together meals for families who may be struggling this holiday season. One hundred boxes were packed, each filled with a turkey, stuffing mix, potatoes, green been casserole ingredients, and pumpkin pie.
Around 20 patrol cars met at Sam’s Club, 2550 Immokalee Road, North Naples, around 8:30 a.m. to pick up the boxes and distributed them to families throughout the county. Needy families were nominated after deputies reached out to local food banks, schools and churches.
Cpl. Ana Russell, Cpl. Michael Taylor and Cpl. Wendell Davis helped to deliver boxes during Saturday's Feed Collier event to families living in Immokalee.
