Man Sought For Questioning In Connection With NN Incident

Deputies are looking for a man who approached a 10-year-old girl in Naples Park on Thursday afternoon and asked her if she wanted a ride.

The girl described the man as being white, about 60 years old with gray hair and a gray mustache. At the time of the incident he was wearing black jeans, a green polo shirt with the words “Merry Christmas” embroidered in red, black shoes and sunglasses. The girl told deputies he spoke with “a country accent.”

He was driving a small Chevrolet pick up with faded red paint and a front NASCAR style license plate that said “88”.

Deputies say the girl was walking near the intersection of 97th Avenue North and
7th Street North shortly before 5 p.m. when the truck, which was heading south on 7th Street, stopped in the road. She told deputies the driver asked her if she wanted a ride and she declined. The man then took the keys out of the ignition and got out of the truck. When the girl saw him exiting the truck she ran to a nearby friend’s house and called her mother.
