Everglades Kids Get To Do What They ‘Wannado’

Kids living in Everglades City got the chance to do some hands-on career exploration with the assistance of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Police Activity League.

The group of 29 kids traveled by bus to Wannado City, at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, on Aug. 6. Wannado City is a theme park dedicated to giving kids the opportunity to learn about different jobs in a “real-life” work environment. Park-goers can pick from more than 200 jobs, including police officer, doctor, baker and radio DJ.

“There are an unlimited number of job opportunities out there and this trip gives the kids a chance for them to dream big,” said Lt. Mark Milligan of CCSO’s Everglades substation.

This was the fourth year the CCSO and PAL took the Everglades City kids on this trip. CCSO covered the cost of the admission tickets and lunch, while PAL paid for the transportation.
