Immokalee Kids Start Off School Year On The Right Foot

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Guadalupe Center of Immokalee to help kick off the 18th annual Back to School Shoe Event throughout the week of Aug. 9.
Three-hundred of Immokalee’s neediest children were selected by the Guadalupe Center to receive a free pair of shoes before the new school year begins Monday, Aug. 23. The kids traveled to Snyderman’s Shoes, 4910 U.S. 41 N., North Naples, where they picked out their new shoes.

The Seminole Casino of Immokalee provided a coach bus to transport the kids to the shoe store. Immokalee deputies volunteered to chaperone the first busload of 52 kids.

Russell’s Clam Bakes served up hot dogs, chips and drinks for the kids after they finished picking out their shoes.
