A Run To Remember

More than 300 people turned out for the inaugural 5K fun run/bicycle ride and safety fair hosted by the Collier County Sheriff's Office and its Golden Gate Road Patrol on May 27.

The nighttime event took place at the Golden Gate Community Center, where more than 175 of the participants laced up their sneakers or hopped on their bikes to run/ride through the streets of Golden Gate.

The event kicked off with a safety fair featuring demonstrations by the CCSO Aviation, Bomb Squad, K-9, Mounted, Patrol, and SWAT units. Deputies also discussed safety tips and served free hot dogs and lemonade to participants.

A presentation ceremony honored fallen law enforcement officers. All proceeds from the event benefit the Police Unity Tour. The event also featured a special thanks to all those who serve the country to commemorate the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

CCSO thanks all of its community partners who helped make this event a huge success.
