Deputies were investigating the apparent drowning death of a 2-year-old girl in a pool in Immokalee on Monday evening.
Andrea Meza Santana was found in a pool at a private residence at 610 Booker Blvd. around 4:45 p.m. The girl did not live at the residence.
Her parents told detectives that they were home when the child ran from them. They lost sight of her for approximately 30 minutes, when they discovered her in the pool.
The child was transported to NCH North Collier Hospital, where she later died.
An investigation continues.
