The Collier County Sheriff's Office was investigating a fatal shooting at Physicians Regional Medical Center – Pine Ridge on Tuesday evening.
Detectives said Jeffrey L. Moretz, 54, entered a patient room around 5:40 p.m. and shot his estranged wife Christine Ann Moretz, 53, before shooting himself.
Hospital security immediately responded and no one else was injured.
Christine Moretz, whose address was not available, died at the scene. Jeffrey Moretz, 6025 English Oaks Lane, Golden Gate, was flown by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.
Detectives said Christine Moretz was visiting a patient when her estranged husband also arrived at the hospital, which is located in the sheriff's Golden Gate district.
An investigation continues.
