Collier County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating an apparent suicide at Physicians Regional Medical Center, 8300 Collier Blvd.
The deceased has been identified as Eugene Martin, 78, of East Naples.
Deputies were called to the facility shortly before 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a gunshot. The investigation revealed that Martin shot himself in a patient restroom while visiting his wife in the hospice wing of the hospital.
