Sex Offender Charged As Peeping Tom

A man who is a registered sex offender has been arrested and charged with peeping into the windows of residences in an East Naples community and watching juvenile girls while they watched television or took a shower.

Leslie Theodore Brew, 35, 6 Dehrenson Drive, East Naples, was arrested on warrants charging him with voyeurism, trespass of an occupied structure and loitering/prowling.

On July 13, a deputy was on foot patrol in the Lely community when he was met by a resident of Palmetto Dunes Circle. The man said his daughter and her friend were watching a movie in the living room when they noticed a man watching them from inside the lanai. The man was crouched on his hands and knees. He ran away as soon as the girls spotted him.

The father told the deputy that he noticed a fresh cut on the lanai screen door where the prowler had entered. He also said he had seen a man ride by his house on a bike wearing a helmet around the time of the incident.

Five nights later deputies responded to a report of a peeping Tom at a residence on Torrey Pines Point, just south of Palmetto Dunes Circle.

A father told deputies that his daughter was in her bedroom when she noticed a man looking inside her window. She then went into the shower and saw a shadowy figure outside the bathroom window. She alerted her father, who grabbed a hockey stick and went outside, where he saw a man outside his daughter’s window. The father told the man he was going to call authorities. The man fled.

On July 23, deputies were in the area of the golf course by Torrey Pines Point when they spotted a man on a bike near the cart path. The man low crawled through the water and then put the bike over his shoulders.

Further investigation by Collier County Sheriff’s Office detectives revealed that the man was Brew, a registered sex offender, and that he had been at the residences on Torrey Pines and Palmetto Dunes looking in windows.

Prosecutors approved warrants for Brew’s arrest on five misdemeanor counts. He was taken into custody Friday and booked into the Collier County jail.
