CCSO, Community Help Clean Up Golden Gate Canal

As part of International Coastal Cleanup Day in September, the Golden Gate Task Force targeted a three-mile stretch of canal on Collier Boulevard to clean up and help keep Golden Gate an enjoyable place to live.

Golden Gate District COPS Cpl. Robert Capizzi, Cpl. James Klewicki and Community Service Deputy Ellen Loftus, along with Golden Gate High School’s JROTC cadets, Golden Gate Civic Association, Code and Utility Enforcement, and citizens worked together to pick up debris including trash, furniture, electronics, tires, mattresses and more.

The group gathered nearly 1,000 pounds of debris and trash.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office offers special thanks to Boat Rentals at Naples Bay Resort and Collier County Parks and Recreation for lending out the kayaks and canoes used to help clean up the canal.
