Fort Myers Task Force Expands, More Resources To Combat Sex Crimes Against Children

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is reposting this news release on behalf of the FBI.

The Innocent Images Task Force (IITF) based in Fort Myers, Florida, has been recently enhanced with new partners. Cape Coral Police Department, Clewiston Police Department, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marco Island Police Department have committed agency personnel to this task force.

The IITF is a multi-agency task force which is an intelligence driven, proactive investigative initiative designed to combat the proliferation of child pornography and child sexual exploitation facilitated through the Internet.

The Fort Myers IITF was established in 2002. Current IITF members include the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Collier County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI Fort Myers Office.

“The additional law enforcement resources being leveraged by our new partners will significantly increase the proactive posture of this task force. Their participation will help track down suspects who engage in the production of child pornography and other crimes targeting children,” said Special Agent in Charge Steven E. Ibison, who is responsible for FBI operations in Central and Southwest Florida.
