‘State Forest Day’ To Celebrate Nature, Safety

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Caloosahatchee Forestry Center have teamed up to host the second annual Picayune Strand State Forest Day on Feb. 4.

The event will celebrate 76 years of Florida state forests, while promoting safety in a fun way for the entire family. Representatives from CCSO will be on hand to share safety tips with the community. Kids can enjoy pony rides, playing on a bounce house and seeing a Florida panther from the Kowiachobee Animal Preserve.

The CCSO will also conduct child fingerprinting.

Food and water will be provided by Boy Scout Troop 951, with proceeds to benefit troop activities. Parking will be at the entrance to the state forest and free shuttles to and from the event will be offered.

Picayune Strand State Forest is located at 2121 52nd Ave. S.E. in Golden Gate Estates. The festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
