Run4Fun Event Tonight Encourages Collier Students To Stay Active This Summer

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the Safe & Healthy Children’s Coalition of Collier County and the Kiwanis Club of Golden Gate are partnering to encourage Collier youth to get up and get active.

The inaugural Run4Fun event will kick off tonight at Golden Gate High School, 2925 Titan Way. Children and families are encouraged to walk/run on the school’s track as a way to encourage healthy habits throughout the summer. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the run begins at 6:15 p.m.

The Run4Fun event will take place every Tuesday at Golden Gate High School for the following eight-weeks. Children who participate in at least five out of the eight runs will be rewarded with a trophy and a t-shirt to recognize their achievement.
This free event will also serve as a public safety fair where families can learn about ways to stay safe, meet with various community partners and try their skill on the CCSO’s rock climbing wall. Cpl. Jeffrey Wray will also be available to teach kids the techniques involved in doing shot puts.
