CCSO And Local Businesses To Show Support For Service Personnel

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with local businesses to honor 83 active duty service men and women from MacDill Air Force Base at the Take A Soldier Fishing event Saturday.

Take A Soldier Fishing events are held throughout the country throughout the year as a way to show appreciation to our service personnel and veterans.

Saturday morning, participants and local boat captains will depart from the Calusa Island Marina in Goodland for a day of fishing. Their return will be followed by live music, a cookout, an auction and weigh-in for the biggest catch of the day. More than 40 fishing guides from around Southwest Florida have volunteered their boats, expertise and time.

The troops will be transported back to their hotel and then attend an awards banquet in the evening. All accommodations and meals have been provided by generous donors from the community.

For more information about the local event, contact CCSO Cpl. Ray Erickson at 239.252.0706.
