The Collier County Sheriff's Office teamed up with East Naples residents to clean up that community Sept. 15. The cleanup, part of the Keep Collier Beautiful – Coastal Cleanup initiative, involved a 2.5-mile stretch of canal on Collier Boulevard between the Florida Sports Park and Verona Walk community. Cpl. Sylee Gibson, Cpl. Angela Ison, Cpl. James Spartz, and Crime Prevention Specialist Connie Ledbetter joined residents in canoes, removing plastic bags, bottles, Styrofoam and other types of debris from the canal.
