“Safety Style,” the Collier County Sheriff’s Office holiday video for 2012, has racked up nearly 63,000 views since its launch one week ago, making it the agency’s most-viewed safety video.
The video infuses safety tips like don’t text and drive, while deputies wearing Santa hats and reindeer antlers dance to the popular song “Gangnam Style,” replacing the lyrics with “safety style.”
CCSO has received positive feedback from the local community and from as far away as West Germany and Zurich, Switzerland. “Your video is just amazing! I’ve been waiting for something like this! More departments should make things like that. Exemplary, well done!” Zurich resident Manuel Aebischer posted on CCSO’s Facebook page.
The video was also profiled by the Naples Daily News, WINK News and posted on www.connectedcops.net, www.officer.com and www.policeone.com.
As of Monday afternoon, the video had been seen 58,211 times on YouTube. It had been viewed another 4,671 times by readers of the Naples Daily News, which embedded it in its website when it published its “Safety Style” story Dec. 11.
