Teen Escapes State Custody
Cristian Arriola escaped from the county Health Department around 2 p.m. Deputies were searching the area around the Collier County government complex, where the health department is located.
Arriola was transported to the health department from Big Cypress Wilderness Institute, a Florida Department of Juvenile Justice facility for at-risk males ages 14-18, in Ochopee. Residential facilities are for youth who are required by a judge to stay in the care of the Department of Juvenile Justice for an extended time.
Arriola is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing khaki shorts, a green or white T-shirt and a gray hooded sweat shirt that says “Swamp Boys,” a reference to the wilderness institute, and black Nike shoes. He has tattoos on both forearms – a skull on one forearm and an expletive on the other.
Arriola has a violent criminal history that includes robbery and weapons possession, all in Hendry County. Deputies are cautioning the public not to approach Arriola or make contact with him.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or your local law enforcement agency.
