CCSO To Support Special Olympics

Dozens of Collier County Sheriff’s Office members will put their best feet forward for the Collier County leg of the 29th annual Torch Run.

Participants will meet at the Collier County Law Enforcement Memorial in front of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Building J at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12. The run will start following remarks by Sheriff Kevin J. Rambosk at 7:50 a.m. In addition to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, participants will include the Naples Police Department, Marco Island Police Department, FBI , State Attorney’s Office and Federal Office of Probation.

Local Special Olympics athletes will be on hand to encourage the runners. Local Special Olympics athlete Michael Lynch, who has been running in the Torch Run for many years will be carrying the “Flame of Hope”.

The runners will proceed to the City of Naples Police Department and then up to the Publix at 1981 U.S. 41 N.

The focus of the local event is to bring awareness and support to Florida Special Olympics.
