Deputies Find $727K In Marijuana Plants At Estates Grow House

Deputies arrested a man and uncovered 50 marijuana plants valued at $727,000 Wednesday.

Detectives with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Bureau executed a narcotics search warrant at 2535 29th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates.

Detectives discovered that a detached garage had been converted into an indoor marijuana grow operation. In addition to the plants they discovered grow equipment such as cooling units, transformers and high-intensity lighting. The value of the grow equipment was estimated at $5,000.

A resident of the home, Landy Fernandez, 27, was in the house when deputies arrived. He was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of a place used for trafficking a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

A second person in the home at the time the warrant was executed could not be tied to the grow operation and was released.
