Estates Grow House Busts Uncover $500K In Marijuana

Detectives uncovered two indoor marijuana grow operations and more than $500,000 in pot in Golden Gate Estates this week.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Bureau detectives, along with assistance from the Special Response Bureau and Selective Enforcement Team, executed two narcotic search warrants at separate Estates residences on Tuesday and Wednesday. The searches turned up a combined total of 176 plants with an estimated total street value of $528,000.

On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed at 2770 DeSoto Blvd S. Detectives discovered a large metal structure behind the residence that contained a sophisticated indoor marijuana grow operation.

A search of the structure turned up 95 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $285,000. Detectives also found equipment used to grow marijuana such as high-intensity light bulbs, pots, cooling units, mylar insulation, high-power transformers and high-grade fertilizer. The equipment had an estimated value of $30,000.

No one was home at the time of the search warrant.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at 4019 22nd Ave. N.E. and discovered a large metal garage-type structure behind the main residence that appeared to have housed a marijuana grow operation that had recently been dismantled.

Detectives found equipment used to grow marijuana such as light hoods mylar insulation, high-intensitiy light-bulbs, and high-grade fertilizer.

Detectives also noticed that the dirt behind the metal structure had been disturbed. Upon further investigation, they discovered 81 marijuana plants that had been recently buried in the dirt. The plants had an estimated street value of $243,000.

Two firearms and a sophisticated surveillance system were also discovered in the residence. Nobody was inside.
