Timmy Bee |
The community is invited to cheer on 10 basketball teams as they
square off at Barron Collier High School on Saturday to help the family of a
local 10-year-old boy battling aplastic anemia.
The “Bee A Hero” tournament is being conducted to benefit Timmy
Bee, who is at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg recovering from a
life-saving bone marrow transplant. His mother Bonnie Bee is a Collier County
Sheriff’s Office corporal. His father Kevin Bee is a firefighter/EMT with North
Naples Fire Control and Rescue District.
The event starts at 7:30 a.m. The championship game is set for 1
p.m. The tournament is free, but donations will be accepted to assist the
family. In addition, there will be a drawing for a basketball autographed by
Paul Pierce, a forward with the NBA’s Washington Wizards.
