Fun For A Cause: ‘Bee A Hero’ Basketball Tourney Saturday

Timmy Bee

The community is invited to cheer on 10 basketball teams as they square off at Barron Collier High School on Saturday to help the family of a local 10-year-old boy battling aplastic anemia.

The “Bee A Hero” tournament is being conducted to benefit Timmy Bee, who is at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg recovering from a life-saving bone marrow transplant. His mother Bonnie Bee is a Collier County Sheriff’s Office corporal. His father Kevin Bee is a firefighter/EMT with North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District.

The event starts at 7:30 a.m. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. The tournament is free, but donations will be accepted to assist the family. In addition, there will be a drawing for a basketball autographed by Paul Pierce, a forward with the NBA’s Washington Wizards.
