CCSO Partners With Nextdoor, The Private Social Network For Neighborhoods
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Nextdoor (www.nextdoor.com), the private social network for neighborhoods, to improve countywide and neighbor-to-neighbor communications.
Led by Sheriff Kevin Rambosk, this partnership with Nextdoor will enable the Sheriff’s Office to use Nextdoor to facilitate virtual neighborhood watch and share important safety updates, emergency notifications, news, services and programs with Collier County neighborhoods. CCSO and Nextdoor neighborhoods will work together to increase safety and strengthen virtual neighborhood watch.
“Having the ability to easily communicate with residents is vital to not only maintaining, but also increasing safety while reducing crime within our communities,” said Sheriff Rambosk. “With Nextdoor, we can empower neighbors to keep their communities safe and connected and give them the ability to collaborate on neighborhood watch efforts.”
With Nextdoor, Collier County residents can create private neighborhood websites to share information, including neighborhood public safety issues, community events and activities, local services, and even lost pets. The Sheriff’s Office will be able to post information such as important news, services, programs, free events, and emergency notifications to Nextdoor websites within the city.
Nextdoor is free for residents and the Sheriff’s Office. Each Collier County neighborhood has its own private Nextdoor neighborhood website, accessible only to residents of that neighborhood.
Neighborhoods establish and self-manage their own Nextdoor website and the Sheriff’s Office will not be able to access residents’ websites, contact information, or content. All members must verify that they live within the neighborhood before joining Nextdoor. Information shared on Nextdoor is password protected and cannot be accessed by Google or other search engines.
Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit www.nextdoor.com and enter their address. If residents have questions about their Nextdoor website, please visit help.nextdoor.com.
