Two motorcyclists were arrested Monday morning after deputies say they were speeding through a construction area, popping wheelies and changing lanes repeatedly on Immokalee Road.
Rogerio Costa Anjos, 25, 5156 Leeds Road, Fort Myers, and Alexandre Gomes Dasilva, 27, of 8703 Athena Court, Naples, each were charged with reckless driving.
Reports say deputies saw the men heading east on Immokalee from U.S. 41 shortly after 2 a.m. After stopping for a red light at Creekside Boulevard, both drivers popped wheelies and accelerated rapidly when the light turned green. They continued east, changing lanes frequently. They were clocked by radar at 54 mph in a 35 mph construction zone.
Minutes before the Immokalee Road incident, deputies had pulled the pair over on U.S. 41 near the Watermark Grille, 11280 U.S. 41 N., and issued them a warning about their driving.
