Bad Check Arrest

A woman who deputies say wrote a bad check to buy a sport utility vehicle from a North Naples car dealership and then tried to drive the car across the Mexican border has been arrested.

Angelique Goodrich, 46, 129 Wading Bird Circle, North Naples, was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging her with grand theft and worthless check writing.

Reports say Goodrich wrote a bad check for $20,930 to purchase a used 2006 Jeep Liberty from Bob Taylor Chevrolet, 5665 Airport-Pulling Road, on April 28, 2007.

Goodrich received the SUV and had it registered before the check cleared, reports said. The dealership filed a complaint with authorities on May 14 when Goodrich couldn’t be reached.

On May 18, 2007, U.S. Customs officials in Texas stopped Goodrich in the Jeep Liberty trying to cross the border into Mexico. The SUV was recovered, but Goodrich was released.
