Cleaner Takes Job Too Far

A cleaning service employee was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he cleaned out merchandise from a local Toys “R” Us while on the job.

Dimitrios Monogios, 30, of North Port, was charged with grand theft. Store employees told deputies they saw Monogios put a 19-inch LCD television under his shirt and leave the 5305 Airport-Pulling Road store. The store manager confronted him, escorted him back inside and called deputies. Reports said Monogios was also in possession of other store merchandise, including an iPod, a digital photo frame and a mini media-player assistant.

The manager told deputies Monogios is employed by a company contracted to clean the store’s floors.
