High-Speed Pursuit Ends In Arrest

A vehicle pursuit through East Naples that reached speeds over 100 mph ended in the arrest this morning of a man on felony charges.

Daniel R. Fulton, 21, 27606 Los Amigos, Bonita Springs, was charged with fleeing and eluding, grand theft auto, obstructing justice, and driving on a suspended license.

Reports gave this account:

Deputies stopped at a red light at the intersection of U.S. 41 North and Golden Gate Parkway around 1:30 a.m. saw a gray 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser turn east onto Golden Gate Parkway from U.S. 41. The PT Cruiser matched the description of a vehicle stolen out of Broward County that Naples police were looking for.

The PT Cruiser made a sharp right onto Goodlette-Frank Road and continued south, accelerating at a high rate of speed with police in pursuit. Deputies joined the pursuit, activating their emergency lights and sirens.

The PT Cruiser blew through the red light at Goodlette-Frank and U.S. 41 East, turning left at U.S. 41. The PT Cruiser continued east on U.S. 41, reaching speeds of 110 mph.

Deputies threw stop sticks at the intersection of U.S. 41 East and Airport-Pulling Road in an attempt to disable the PT Cruiser.

The pursuit continued at a high rate of speed into the Winter Park neighborhood until the PT Cruiser collided with a Dumpster at the dead end of Arctic Circle.

The driver, Fulton, then ran out of the car and into a nearby apartment complex. A sheriff’s helicopter spotted Fulton hiding next to stairs, where he was arrested.
