Meaty Arrest

A man who reports say stole meat from a Mexican grocery store was arrested Wednesday after store employees chased him down on foot and by car.

Rodofo Moya, 50, who listed a general delivery address in Immokalee on arrest reports, was charged with petty theft and battery.

Reports say Moya came into La Mexicana, 217 N. 15th St., Immokalee, around 6:30 p.m. and placed two packages of meat into a bag. He walked past the cashier without paying for the meat.

Moya struck a store clerk who tried to stop him from leaving the store.

The clerk told deputies he saw Moya place one package of meat behind a trash bin behind the store. Moya ran west on Roberts Avenue.

The clerk chased Moya on foot, while the store manager, Noe Leal, searched for Moya in his truck.Noe found Moya at 312 N. 18th St., where he was arrested.
Moya was also charged with possession of fraudulent identification and possession of counterfeit bills. Further investigation revealed Moya had a fake driver's license, along with 15 counterfeit $50 bills, in his wallet.
