WHAT: Poinciana Village Child Safety Block Party
WHEN: Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Poinciana Village’s community park. Poinciana Village is located on the west side of Airport-Pulling Road about a mile north of Golden Gate Parkway. The event will happen in the development’s community park, which is located at the corner of Poinciana and Ponce De Leon drives.
SUMMARY: The Collier County Sheriff’s Office will help Poinciana Village residents learn how to stay safe Saturday at the development’s Child Safety Block Party.
Children will interact with McGruff the crime dog and learn about things like bicycle helmet and seatbelt laws. Young and old alike will see a real CCSO patrol car and one of the agency’s Segway personal transport vehicles.
Cmdr. Elizabeth Jones will be there to provide information about Drug-Free Collier, an organization that decreases juvenile substance abuse through education, prevention and support services.
The CCSO encourages communities like Poinciana Village to host safety block parties to promote interaction between neighbors and increase crime-prevention awareness.
