Cleaning Worker Charged With Grand Theft

Deputies arrested a cleaning service employee Tuesday who they say stole a gold bracelet from a customer while cleaning her condo and then pawned it for cash.

Nicholas J. Chaffin, 29, 3987 Recreation Lane, East Naples, was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawbroker.

Reports say Chaffin was working a job cleaning the sliding glass doors of a condominium on Eagle Creek Drive on Jan. 23.

When he was finished cleaning the doors, investigators say he went into a bedroom and took a gold bracelet valued at $1,300 that was on top of a dresser.

On Jan. 24, Chaffin took the bracelet to Capital Pawn Superstore, 1933 Davis Blvd., East Naples, where he sold it for cash.
