Deputies: Robber Struck Men With Rocks, Beer Bottle

A man who deputies say hit two men with rocks and a beer bottle as he tried to steal their bicycle in Immokalee was arrested early Friday.

Devontay Jackson, 21, 700 Breezewood Drive, Immokalee, is charged with armed robbery and battery.

Reports say Gabriel Us Castro, 35, and Pedro Us Mejia, 30, were walking along south 4th Street near Colorado Avenue around 2 a.m. when Jackson approached them and demanded the bicycle that Castro was pushing.

Castro refused and Jackson grabbed a concrete block and threw it at Castro, striking him in the lower back.

When Mejia attempted to intervene, Jackson removed a full beer bottle from his back pocket and struck Mejia in the back.

Jackson ran away. Deputies located Jackson a short time later at 601 W. Delaware and arrested him.
