An off-duty CCSO deputy thwarted the theft of more than $1,000 worth of liquor and $1,600 worth of clothing over the weekend.
Tamara Smith, 29, 601 NW 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale, and Stephanie Smith, 29, 2751 NW 201st Terrace, Miami, were charged with two counts of grand theft.
Reports say the deputy saw two women running in and out of the Walgreens at the corner of Napa Boulevard and Pine Ridge Road carrying multiple bottles of liquor at about 7:45 p.m. Friday. He notified nearby road patrol units and they stopped the gray Nissan the women were driving in the parking lot of a gas station in the same plaza. Inside the car deputies found about 30 bottles of liquor with a total value of $1,091.70. They also found 152 articles of clothing that had been taken from a Ross store at 5054 Airport-Pulling Road North. The clothes were valued at $1,610
