Man Charged With Stealing ATVs In Estates

Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man on felony charges over the weekend after they say he stole three ATVs in Golden Gate Estates.

Eric Alexander McComas, 2360 Randall Blvd., Golden Gate Estates, was charged with grand theft.

Arrest reports say deputies on patrol stopped McComas, who was driving a tan ATV south on the shoulder of Everglades Boulevard near 37th Avenue Northeast around 9 p.m. Saturday. The ATV matched the description of one that had been reported stolen, reports said.

McComas told deputies that he didn’t have a key for the ATV and that he had to disconnect wires to turn it off, reports said.

McComas told deputies that the ATV belonged to a friend and that he was driving it back to the friend’s house on Randall Boulevard, reports said.

A computer search of motor vehicle records revealed the ATV had been reported stolen, reports said.

McComas then led deputies to a wooded area off 62nd Avenue Northeast, where they found two other ATVs, also reported stolen, reports said.
