Store Owner Holds 2 At Gunpoint In Copper Theft

Two men were arrested Monday after a North Naples business owner held them at gunpoint for stealing copper wire, sheriff's deputies say.

Milisav Pavlovic, 44, and Mevlin Mustafic, 45, both of St. Petersburg, were each charged with grand theft.

Arrest reports say Edward Fahey told deputies that he had returned to his business, Ed’s Welding, 5625 Taylor Road, around 2:15 p.m. to find Pavlovic and Mustafic loading his scrap copper wire into a truck that was parked in the back.

Fahey pulled out his gun and then called deputies for help, reports said.

Fahey told deputies he does not know Pavlovic and Mustafic and that they did not have his permission to take his copper wire, reports said.

Fahey estimated about 400 feet of copper, valued at $1,000, had been loaded onto the truck, reports said.
