Teen Charged In School Disturbance

A 16-year-old Immokalee High School student has been arrested in connection with the deployment of four devices made of soda bottles and household cleaning products at the school Wednesday.

Darius Deloach, 1332 Reflection Way, Immokalee, is charged with four counts of making, possessing, throwing, placing or discharging a destructive device; four counts of possessing or discharging a weapon or firearm on school property; and one count of disruption of a school function.

Initially it was believed nobody was injured. However, a student came forward later complaining that his chest was burning because a substance in one of the bottles had splashed on him. That student was treated at the scene by EMS.

Students were dismissed early and deputies conducted a room-by-room search of the building to make sure no additional devices existed.

A photograph of Deloach is not available.
