Bond Set At $500,000 In Circle K Robbery

SECOND UPDATE: Carpenter is being held in the Collier County jail on $500,000 bond.

Collier County Circuit Judge Elizabeth Krier set bond for Carpenter at a court hearing Saturday.

Deputies say Carpenter was free on bond in a pending felony case out of Lee County when he robbed the Circle K store in East Naples on June 21, according to sheriff’s reports.

Carpenter was arrested on Oct. 12, 2007, in Lee County on charges of burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property, reports said. He remained in the Lee County jail until May 12, when a judge granted a defense motion to reduce his bond, reports said. He posted bond the next day and was released from custody, reports said.

UPDATE: Deputies on Friday afternoon charged Gene Daniel Carpenter, 27, 115 Manor Blvd., East Naples, with armed robbery in connection with this case.


ORIGINAL INFORMATION: Deputies are investigating a robbery at an East Naples convenience store over the weekend.

Deputies say a man walked into the Circle K store at 5680 Radio Road around 12:38 a.m. Saturday, June 21, displayed a gun and demanded the clerk give him all the money in the cash register.

The robber then fled the store, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
