Charge Upgraded To 2nd-Degree Murder

UPDATE: Thomas Chapman has died of his injury. Kelly McDermott now faces a charge of second-degree murder. No further information is available.

EARLIER INFORMATION:
A 45-year-old woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she stabbed her boyfriend during an argument Thursday.
Kelly L. McDermott, 1263 Barbizon Lane, East Naples, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

Arrest reports say a neighbor told deputies that McDermott showed up at her residence around 1:30 a.m. covered in blood and asking for help. McDermott told the neighbor that she had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, Thomas Chapman, 27, and stabbed him, reports said.

Deputies went to McDermott’s home where they found Chapman lying unconscious on the kitchen floor bleeding from a knife wound to his left leg, reports said. He was transported to a local hospital, reports said.
