Tablet Tiff Leads To Man's Arrest

Deputies arrested a man early Tuesday after they say he threatened his girlfriend with a knife after she woke him up to remind him to take his medication.

Bryan Keith Slaughter, 47, 2164 U.S. 41 E., East Naples, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery/domestic violence.

Arrest reports say Cynthia Sawyer, 53, told deputies that she woke up Slaughter, whom she lives with, around midnight to remind him to take his pain tablets for a foot injury.

Slaughter became enraged and grabbed Sawyer and pushed her against a wall, reports said. He pushed her into a chair and as she got up he banged her head on a wall, reports said.

Sawyer told him she was going to call authorities and he pulled out a silver pocket knife, opened the blade, pointed it toward her face and told her he was going to kill her, reports said.

He pushed her backward and threw the knife onto the bed, reports said.
