CHARGES: Armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
CRIME DATE: Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008
CRIME LOCATIONS: 4600 block of Sunset Road and 1909 46th Terrace S.W.
SUMMARY: Adam Tijerina and his son Antonio Aurelio Tijerina were arrested Sunday after deputies say they robbed three people during a drug deal in Golden Gate.
Arrest reports gave this account:
The victims, who were not identified in sheriff’s reports, told deputies that they met Adam and Antonio Tijerina in East Naples on Saturday afternoon with the intent of purchasing cocaine from them. Adam Tijerina was behind the wheel of a small white car and his son was the passenger.
Antonio Tijerina told the victims to follow them to Golden Gate, where they parked behind a vacant duplex in the 4600 block of Sunset Road. Antonio Tijerina took the victims behind the duplex, while his father stayed in the car.
Antonio Tijerina pulled out a gun and demanded money, reports said. The victims told him that the money was in their car. Antonio Tijerina put the gun away, telling them he was “just testing” them, reports said.
Antonio Tijerina then got into the victims’ car and told them to drive to his residence, while his father followed in the white car. Antonio Tijerina asked them to come inside and they refused. Antonio Tijerina became upset and pointed his gun at the victims, threatening to shoot them.
Antonio Tijerina struck one of the victims in the face with the gun, causing a laceration, reports said. One of the victims tried to grab the gun away and a struggle ensued. The victims then drove away.
Investigators say Adam Tijerina acted as a lookout from his vehicle while his son threatened the victims.
