Fresh tire tracks helped lead to the arrest of a Golden Gate Estates teenager Monday on charges that he stole ATVs and a dirt bike.
Ronald Walter Willis III, 18, 3370 43rd Ave. N. E., was charged with grand theft, burglary and resisting arrest.
Arrest reports say Willis entered property at 4320 54th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates, on Thursday and stole a three-wheeler from underneath a tarp and then took a dirt bike that was parked under the garage awning.
Deputies say Willis returned to the property on Friday and stole another three-wheeler that was parked at the side of the garage, reports said.
When deputies questioned him about the thefts, Willis told them he hadn’t had any ATVs or dirt bikes on his property in at least month, reports said. Deputies said there were fresh ATV tire tracks on his property leading down to a trail and that neighbors told deputies that they saw ATVs at his house nearly every night, reports said.
Deputies located the ATVs and the dirt bike at a residence on 16th Street Northeast. A woman who lives at the residence was waiting for deputies when they arrived. She told them Willis called her while deputies were en route and asked her to hide the ATVs and bike. She told him she would not and led deputies to the ATVs and bike, reports said.
