Bicyclist Charged With Stealing Woman’s Purse

Deputies arrested a 33-year-old man over the weekend after they say he stole a woman’s purse while riding a bicycle and she chased him down.

David A. Lunn, 33, 796 108th Ave. N., Naples Park, was charged with robbery.

Arrest reports gave this account:

Lucia Bacallao, 56, told deputies that she was sitting on a bench talking on her cell phone outside Publix, 871 Vanderbilt Beach Road, North Naples, shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday when Lunn rode past on a bicycle and grabbed her purse from her lap.

Bacallao chased Lunn and grabbed him by the shirt as he rode away. Lunn punched Bacallao in the head numerous times. Bacallao fell to the ground while holding onto Lunn’s shirt, causing him to fall off the bike.

Lunn broke fom Bacallao’s grasp and ran. Baccallao ran after him and grabbed him by the shirt, but he twisted out of her grasp and continued to run, throwing the purse onto the ground.

A bystander ran toward Lunn and pushed him to the ground, where a group of bystanders held him until deputies arrived.
