Sheriff Don Hunter announced Monday that the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has earned the prestigious Flagship Agency designation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc.
Flagship agencies represent excellence in public safety.
CCSO has maintained accreditation from CALEA since 1994. Accredited agencies must meet a body of standards that translate to excellence in management and service delivery.
The CALEA staff selects flagship agencies based primarily on their past awards, current assessment and overall professional standing in the public safety community.
A Flagship Agency must have:
* A minimum of two previous consecutive accreditation awards.
* No conditions or noncompliance issues on its most recent past award.
* No noncompliance issues or recommended conditions on current assessment.
* Limited file maintenance and applied discretion issues on its current assessment report.
* No issues involving life, safety, and security standards.
* No issues that detract from the tenets or goals of accreditation and/or the Flagship Program.
