A North Naples teenager was arrested on felony charges after deputies say he fired a shotgun into a mobile home Thursday night.
Edwin Garay, 17, 5 Royal Cove Drive, was charged with shooting a missile into a dwelling, criminal mischief over $1,000, discharging a firearm in public and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Reports say Ana Cardena told deputies that her daughter was outside their 42 Royal Cove Drive mobile home shortly after 8 p.m. when she heard a loud bang. She felt a blast of wind and then saw sparks fly from the mobile home next door, according to reports. Cardena told deputies that boys in the neighborhood had been shooting BB guns recently and she was afraid they had acquired a real gun.
Reports say deputies found several fresh holes with metallic edges in the adjacent mobile home.
Investigators interviewed Garay at his home regarding the gunshot. Garay’s mother told deputies she was unaware of any weapons other than BB guns in the home. She gave them permission to search for guns. Deputies found at 20-gauge shotgun, a 22-caliber rifle and several pistol BB guns in the house.
