Deputies: Pair Struck Woman With Car, Snatched Purse

Two women were arrested after deputies say they struck a woman with their car and stole her purse in the parking lot outside Whole Foods Market in North Naples on Monday night.

Michele Julia Fraser, 39, 11790 Bradley Court, Bonita Springs, and Kimberly Ann Lang, 36, 441 20th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates, were each charged with robbery by sudden snatching.

Arrest reports gave this account:

Gala Judith Reitz, 52, told deputies that she was pushing a shopping cart toward her car in the parking lot outside Whole Foods, 9101 Strada Place, shortly after 7 p.m. when she was struck by a white Toyota Camry and knocked to the ground.

Fraser got out of the passenger side of the Camry and grabbed Reitz’s purse. Fraser ran back inside the Camry, which was waiting with Lang behind the wheel. Lang then sped out of the parking lot, heading north on U.S. 41 North toward Immokalee Road.

Deputies quickly located the Camry with Fraser and Lang inside at the intersection of Pine Ridge Road and Whippoorwill Lane, where Reitz identified Lang and Fraser as the women who robbed her. Deputies also found items with Reitz’s name on them inside the Camry.

An investigation continues.
