Residents living in areas of Collier County that have been affected by brush fires this week can take steps now to protect their home and be prepared in the event of an evacuation.
First, clear all debris, brush and combustible materials from at least 30 feet around your home.
Second, gather important belongings so that you are prepared to leave quickly. These items include:
• Important documents and mementos
• Prescription medicines
• At least one change of clothing for each family member
• Toiletries
• Food and water for family pets
• Non-perishable food
• Credit card, debit card or cash
• Any items required for a family member with special needs, such as an infant or someone who is elderly or disabled.
