Detectives say human remains found Thursday in a thickly wooded area in Golden Gate Estates are believed to be 59-year-old Oland Rowe of Golden Gate Estates, who was reported missing by his family this week.
The clothing on the body matches the description of the clothing Rowe was reported to be wearing when he went missing, detectives said.
An autopsy to determine cause of death will be conducted, but detectives say foul play isn’t suspected.
The body was discovered shortly before noon in a wooded area off Everglades Boulevard during a grid search conducted by 25 to 30 members of the CCSO Emergency Response Team and the EMS Search and Rescue Team.
Rowe was last seen by relatives around 5:30 p.m. Saturday at his residence, 2961 22nd Ave., N.E., Golden Gate Estates. Relatives reported him missing Sunday.
Searches have been conducted daily since Sunday. Deputies and emergency rescue personnel searched on foot, in cruisers, in four-wheel-drive vehicles, on ATVs, and by helicopter.
Deputies with bloodhounds searched Wednesday evening until 11:30 p.m. The search resumed at 9 a.m. Thursday.
